Who We Are
Partnership for the Public's Health is a dynamic organization that has honed its skills across two multi-million dollar initiatives during the past decade, encompassing over 43 communities and over 27 public health jurisdictions throughout the state of California. PPH's principal work has been to forge effective partnerships among communities, public health departments, and other private and public entities, and to build their capacity to make environmental and institutional change happen in communities where health inequities are prevalent. From initiative design, through implementation and management, to evaluation and dissemination, we focus on strategies that support policy change, and that build long-term movements to improve social equity and community health.
All aspects of our work are distinguished by a multi-faceted, multi-level, systems understanding of public health, as well as by the belief that communities should be at the center of the decisions that determine the conditions in which they live. We take a comprehensive approach that provides thought leadership, planning skills, the tools, support, and attention to details required to achieve initiative or program vision, and direct experience with communities to make it all work, on the ground. As an intermediary organization, we assist foundation grantees to be successful, while at the same time serving as a strong and reliable foundation partner.
